ABOUT ANTHONY

My camera is my most precious possession — not just a tool, but a trusted companion on a creative path that continues to surprise and inspire me. Photography, which began as a curiosity in childhood, has grown into a vital and consuming part of my life. It’s through the lens that I’ve discovered my voice as an artist.

Through photography, I’m drawn to both the natural and built environments — Land & Sea, Urban & Industrial, Human & Animal. There’s beauty, complexity, and narrative in each, and I strive to capture the quiet tension and unexpected harmony between them.

My love of travel and foreign places has also been a powerful influence, shaping how I see the world and deepening my appreciation for the unfamiliar. Being immersed in different cultures and landscapes continually challenges my perspective and fuels my creative instincts behind the lens.

A pivotal inspiration for the images I capture has been the art of Jeffrey Smart. His industrial, precisionist, modernist perspective, and geometric sensibilities have resonated deeply with me. While I didn’t set out to emulate his style, I’ve found my own photographic compositions increasingly echoing his — especially in my attraction to symmetry, structure, and subjects like shipping containers. These elements were central to my Photography Studies College student exhibition.

Photography has awakened something within me — a desire to observe more closely, compose more thoughtfully, and create more intentionally. As I continue to grow in my craft, I hope my work invites viewers to see the world a little differently: with curiosity, stillness, and renewed appreciation for the stories found in everyday spaces.
